Awaiting The Harvest
SOME OF YOU have been awaiting the display of recent paintings I created in the only known lavender farm in North Carolina. I was amazed that this farm existed much less be so beautiful! As part of a festival celebrating the summer harvest - just a week before the lavender was to be cut - painters were invited to capture the garden. The public too, came to purchase and make items from the fresh lavender. There was even chocolate ice cream with the blossoms as flavoring.
This is the first and smallest of several pieces I will offer...the best is yet to come!
Wonderful work Diane. I'm so glad you had this opportunity and can share it with us thru your art.
Thanks Llis,
I was amazed at the difference in color and light here in NC for the lavender from France. The light was very delicate and not nearly as bold. The next pieces of the same spot will have the same feel but have more going on in them.
I will also be creating some studio pieces from the garden. There is a wonderful outdoor still life with lemonade and lavender that I must capture. But alas, leaving tomorrow on another trip, so I have something to look forward to painting when I return.
Love ya,
D
