Niagara Falls Paintings

Crystal Mist
THERE IS NOTHING QUITE LIKE SEEING one of the seven wonders of the world. Last week I saw and had the opportunity to to see and paint Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada. Along with about 30 other painters from Canada and the U.S. we were a part of the 4th Worldwide Paint Out, sponsored by the International Society of Plein Air Painters. Artists from around the globe painted in their respective villages, towns and cities to capture landscapes over the same three days of September 8, 9 and 10.
These are the two pieces I was most delighted with creating. It's one thing to see the great Falls for the first time, much less try to paint it so quickly. It would take many lifetimes to study and do justice to this one location that has been photographed, sketched and painted for centuries.
Many more studio paintings will come out of my trip, nevertheless, studying these powerful, pristine waters in real time was a grand experience.

Hi Sandra!!
It’s been so long since we communicated. I hope you are doing well:)
Thanks so much for your message. I have been traveling for many weeks and am at last home again. I appreciate your compliments about the Niagara paintings. They were a joy to paint. The scenery is incredible and I had a great time participating at the hub of activity. I don’t think I’ll be able to travel there again due to the expense, but it was well worth the effort...especially to see Jacq and many of our other colleagues in person for the first time!
Take care Sandra. Everyone loves your work, including me and you’re doing a grand job from where you are!!
Hugs,
Diane
