Crystal Mist
THERE IS NOTHING QUITE LIKE SEEING one of the seven wonders of the world. Last week I saw and had the opportunity to to see and paint Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada. Along with about 30 other painters from Canada and the U.S. we were a part of the 4th Worldwide Paint Out, sponsored by the International Society of Plein Air Painters. Artists from around the globe painted in their respective villages, towns and cities to capture landscapes over the same three days of September 8, 9 and 10.
These are the two pieces I was most delighted with creating. It's one thing to see the great Falls for the first time, much less try to paint it so quickly. It would take many lifetimes to study and do justice to this one location that has been photographed, sketched and painted for centuries.
Many more studio paintings will come out of my trip, nevertheless, studying these powerful, pristine waters in real time was a grand experience.
Playing in the Mist
I will be flying to Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada tomorrow to participate in the 4th Annual Worldwide Paint Out hosted by the International Plein Air Painters. Artists from around the globe will be painting wherever they live. This year, I'm going to be part of the hub of action - main headquarters.
Hopefully by next week, I'll have some new pieces from this latest adventure for you to view!
