THANKSGIVING IS AMONG THE MOST SPECIAL CELEBRATIONS here in the U. S.

Although this is a major historical event that has come down through the years to us, I take it very personally. It is a yearly reminder that God has blessed us with His bountiful gifts and most particularly the freedom to worship as we wish without hindrance from anyone or entity. I try to daily keep all of this in mind, however, I am glad that we set aside a day to celebrate.

In addition to being thankful to God for this freedom, there is a huge list of things I am thankful for as well; including my ability to use the gift of painting to collectors, friends, family and the general public.

Thank you for your interest, exchange and interactivity with me on and off-line. I pray for and appreciate you all so very much and hope you too, will reflect on what means most to you wherever you are: in the U.S. or elsewhere. Take time for a private moment to count your own blessings.

Meanwhile, I look toward Christmas, as you may be looking forward to the season's holiday that you may be celebrating.

Dawn Over Niagara

Dawn Over Niagara
15.5 x 19.5 in.| Acrylic on Painters Palette

I HAVE CREATED PAINTINGS ON UNUSUAL SURFACES in my time, from ninety foot interior murals to tiny illustrations for books. This is the first time however, I have painted directly on a painters palette. A few weeks ago, I was invited to participate in a gallery holiday show. The theme: painting on an artists palette. I chose this curved shape to paint a landscape I photographed from my hotel window with a sunrise backlighting Niagara Falls.

You can read and view how it was created in a new article on my site, Landscape On A Palette. As shown above, the most unique feature is that I re-worked a tabletop easel such that the future owner can choose to display the whole unit on a wall or display on a flat surface! The painting and easel are adhered to each other as one complete piece of art.
